Getting started with @Start

@Start is your personal home (start) page for your Internet Explorer browser. @Start has three major sections: navigation, information, and my homepage.

1. Searching

@Start allows you to search the Internet with the most popular search engines right from any section of @Start. No need for any extra clicks. Simply enter any search phrase in the search fields and click on the button with the name of your favorite search engine. The search feature is available on every @Start section.



Example: To search for "cars" on MSN, type "cars" in the search field:

1.1 Customizing @Start Search Engines

If you would like to select another search engine, just click on the options icon (). Click on the Global Settings tab and select the search engine of your choice from the list. In this section, you can also select your default search engine. The default search engine is listed first and is engaged when you press the Enter key.



2. Customizing @Start Appearance

Additionally, you can further customize @Start by selecting Super Compact, Compact, Standard, and Large Font modes. Click on the options icon (). Next, click on the Global Settings tab and select the desired style. This setting is active across all of @Start's tabs.



3. Navigation Tab

The navigation tab contains four sections: Custom Links, Last Typed URL, Favorites, and History.

3.1 Custom Links

@Start allows you to create custom links for the sites you use most. Moreover, these links can be organized in groups (folders). Please note that your custom links appear in alphabetical order.

The four icons allow you to add a link, add a group, edit a group, and delete a group



Add-a-link icon allows you to enter the URL and the name of the site. Additionally, you can select the color of the link, and its background.



Add-a-group icon allows you to enter the name of your group. You can also select the group's background color.



Edit-a-group icon, allows to change the name or color of an existing group



Finally, the Delete-a-group icon deletes the selected group, along with all the links in the group.

Similarly, the smaller edit and delete icons allow you to modify the properties of your custom links.

HINT: You can uses IE's favorites folders to drag-and-drop links into the @Start folder.



Please note that you can also re-arrange your links and folders using the "Organize" feature of IE. Since all the custom links are stored in the @Start Folder, you can easily re-arrange your folders





3.2 Last Typed URL

@Start lists the URLs that you typed most recently. No need to start typing in the address bar. Please note the URLs appear in alphabetical order.



3.3 Favorites

Additionally, @Start provides you with instant access to your favorites links.



3.4 History

Finally, @Start provides you with access to your history (of recently visited sites).



3.5 Customizing Navigation Tab

To customize the Navigation Tab, click on the options icon (). Next, click on the Navigation tab.

3.5.1 Section Selection

You can customize the appearance of the Navigation Tab by toggling its various sections. You can also select the number of columns for each of the various sections.



3.5.2 Read-only Mode

Additionally, you can make Navigation tab read-only. In this mode, links cannot be edited or deleted.



4. Information Tab

The information tab contains two sections: News and Horoscope. Please note that by using the e-mail icon (), you can e-mail the news and horoscope reports to your friends.

4.1 News

@Start also gives you access to the latest news. Just pick your category.



4.2 Horoscope

@Start delivers your daily horoscope. Just enter you birthday and enjoy today's horoscope. Note that you also have access to yesterday's and tomorrow's horoscopes.


4.3 Customizing Information Tab

To customize the Information Tab, click on the options icon (). Next, click on the Information tab.

4.3.1 Section Selection

You can customize the appearance of the Information Tab by toggling its various sections.



5. My Homepage Tab

My Homepage tab gives you full access to your favorite home page. Additionally, you still have access to of @Start's other features.

5.1 Customizing My Homepage Tab

To select the homepage to be used on this tab, click on the options icon (). Next, click on the My Homepage tab to update the URL.
